Finally, Google’s Android app will allow you to delete your search history for the last 15 minutes.

A new feature in Google’s Android app allows you to wipe your recent search history for the past 15 minutes, the company confirmed to The Verge.

According to a statement from Google spokesperson Ned Adriance, “We’re presently pushing this functionality out on the Google Android app and anticipate to be available to everyone using the app over the next few weeks”. In the meantime, we’re looking into ways to make this feature available on different surfaces.

Mishaal Rahman, the former editor-in-chief of XDA Developers, was the first to notice the function, and a Verge editor has also discovered it on their phone. Look for the “Delete last 15 minutes” option under your profile picture in Google’s Android app to determine whether you have it.

It’s been a while since this functionality was added to the Android app. At Google I/O in May, the functionality was originally unveiled, and it was made available in the Google iOS app in July. For some inexplicable reason, Google failed to meet its original schedule of later in 2021 for an Android app release of this feature. This functionality will only be accessible for iOS and Android apps, and Google hasn’t specified whether or not it would come to desktops. In its May announcement post, the firm didn’t clarify which platforms it would be available on.

As an option, you can have Google remove anything from your search history that is three, 18, or 36 months old.
